WHAT IS LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Laser hair removal is a non-invasive procedure in which a laser beam is passed over the skin, targeting the hair follicles and disabling the ones that are in the growth, or anagen, phase. Treating hair that is not in the anagen phase does not work. This is the reason it takes multiple treatments to achieve complete hair removal - hair has several growth phases and not all hairs are in the same phase at the same time! The number of treatments required to achieve the desired result is different for everybody, but is typically in the range of 5-8 treatments. Shaving is always recommended in between treatments to maximize treatments.
If you want to be hair free by a certain time (vacation, wedding, etc.), you need to start laser hair removal treatments early enough to be able to complete all the treatments. In some instances, this can mean starting treatments 10-12 months prior to the event.
The procedure itself is quick, painless and with no downtime.
